Meta Enters the AI Price War: 95% Cheaper Caching
AI Wallet
Meta has entered the premium AI API market with its new Muse Wonder model. Its API pricing starts at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, while cached input costs only $0.20 per million tokens. This makes cached input 95% cheaper than normal input. The launch gives businesses another option when comparing AI models, particularly for applications that repeatedly process the same information.
Cached-input prices apply only to eligible input that is reused from a cache; new input is billed at the normal input price.
Prices checked against Meta, OpenAI and Anthropic official pricing pages on 13 October 2026.
Meta’s entry increases competition in the premium AI market, but its standard API prices are higher than some alternatives. However, comparing token prices alone does not tell the full story. Model performance, caching, speed and the number of tokens needed to complete a task can all influence the final cost. For businesses, the best choice depends on the type of work they want AI to perform, not simply the lowest advertised price.
